G,
I, too, bought this tablet primarily to write (as opposed to type) which is similar to drawing in some ways. I don't have the issues that you do. In fact, I know that the tablet recognizes my pen about 2 or 3 mm above the screen. When the pen touches the screen, it writes absolutely fine. It sounds like you have an issue with your digitizer. I would suggest you bring it back to get a new one. Hope this helps.

Re: Asus EEE Pad EP 121 – Two month review

Hi, sorry to pick your site randomly to ask this, but what's your impression of drawing on the EE 121? I just bought one and while it's a cool device otherwise the drawing aspect leaves a lot to be desired, I have to press pretty hard to get a line and it seems to drop in and out. I did install an updated driver and there is pressure sensitivity but having to almost dig into it doesn't seem right to me. I even borrowed another stylus, so I don't think that's the problem. Deciding now whether to keep tinkering or just take it back, since that's the main thing I bought it for.

Thanks!

Re: Asus EEE Pad EP 121 – Two month review

@ Kelvin, thnx for the reply..the problem was the chosen language..as I bought my slate in the USA but use it in the Netherlands (Holland) I chose dutch as the input language as u could see that didn't work out. Asus does make really good devices and the EP-121 is definitely a good example of that at the moment. The one thing that I would have liked is the fingerprint scanner as it would have made logging in a lot easier. Other than that, I have to say that it isn't lacking for much. The battery life for me is livable as I am able to plug in at most of the meetings that I'm in. I certainly hope that this will work with Windows 8 when it comes out.

Re: Asus EEE Pad EP 121 – Two month review

I'm with this user--my EP121 was my first Asus product, but will not be my last--(I actually bought a netbook for my son a month ago). There really isn't another solid peer in this group--as the only competitor I can find actually selling a full processor Windows tablet want more than double what I paid for my EP121 (the most nearly configured machine (12.1" multi-touch/digitizer display (gorilla glass), Core i5 (only offered in 32-bit), 2 GB RAM, 160 GB hard drive (extra $$ for SSD), is a sealed, ruggedized machine, with a fingerprint scanner--(but is still thicker and heavier)).

I love using this machine in meetings. Unobtrusive, quiet, reliable. Full OS (all iPad users in meetings I attend are jealous--especially with the capabilities of OneNote, the handwriting recognition, and the fact that I don't need any other computer--everything in one place). It will be nice when the relevant technologies evolve to the point where battery life for a machine running a full processor are what they are now for the lightweights--but as it is now, I have not been unhappy with my computer a single day since it arrived in late March.

Raynard H. I would challenge any Atom based processors to be nearly as usable at the moment. I am hoping that Windows 8 will solve some of its usability issues though.

Re: Asus EEE Pad EP 121 – Two month review

Indeed it's a great device but supply shortage has let it down hugely
though it was announced in Jan 2011. Most "dumb" phones will last that long because they're usually doing a lot less. The biggest battery killer for most smart phones are the attributes that make it a smart phone - big bright screen with huge colour depth, wi-fi and fast connections like HSDPA which chew up most of the battery life.

Re: HTC Desire Z review posted

Very good review. Right up to the part where the phone has only 6 hrs battery life. (which is not a criticism on the review, just phones in general).

I think if there was a phone that just phoned, and with a battery life of 1 week. With flawless reception, it would sell like hotcakes, and that includes the accessories.

Re: Viber – Another Skype competitor

You can subscribe to be a beta-tester, which means you can get it before it's officially released :)
if you're interested, check out http://eepurl.com/bW1Ln

Viber.

Re: Viber – Another Skype competitor

Hi there,
Thank you for posting a comment on my blog. I think it's always interesting to see others create apps that are new and hopefully innovative. Competition only results in better products for the consumer which is a great thing. I'd also be very interested in trying out the product for the Android platform
